Why Sealcoat Your Driveway?
The driveway leading to your home is one of the first things people see as they approach your property. Because it is highly visible, you’ll want to do all you can to extend its useful life.
Asphalt left unprotected will begin to fade and crack and then ultimately weaken and fail. Once cracks form and widen, water that penetrates through to the base will cause erosion and pot holes. Besides water, other elements such as sunlight, oil or gasoline leaks which will cause damage to your driveway.
Sealcoating, or pavement sealing, is the process of applying a protective coating to asphalt-based pavements to provide a layer of protection from the elements: water, oils, U.V. damage and harmful chemicals like antifreeze and salt. Depending on the weather conditions, it should be done every 3 to 5 years. By maintaining your driveway on a regular schedule, you can extend the functional life of the surface.
